Remove Unwanted Hair Permanently With Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is not a cosmetic procedure, but a medical procedure to destroy hair follicles so that hairs do not grow in that area anymore. During the process, highly concentrated laser light is beamed into the skin, as a result of which hair follicles are damaged, leading to permanent hair removal.  A laser is one of the most common procedures that people use to remove unwanted hair from their face, underarms, legs, arms, bikini area, etc. This saves you from manually removing body hair by wax, tweezers, razors or trimmers. Let’s know more about the process.

How Laser Hair Removal is done

Often, you need to go for a few sittings before your hair follicles are completely destroyed. Since it is a risky process, it should be done by a professionally trained and experienced expert only. When you go for the procedure, the expert will first trim your hair up to a few millimetres above the skin to be treated. Then they will adjust the laser beam according to the thickness, colour, skin colour and location to be treated. Both you and the expert need to wear some gear for the protection of eyes. The outer skin layers will be given protection with the help of a cooling device or cold gel.

This will allow the laser beam to penetrate into the skin without damaging the surrounding area. Finally, the expert will direct a beam of light on the affected area, and observe it for a few minutes to notice any signs of reaction or bad device settings. If everything goes fine, they will continue the process at the rest of the area. After completing the procedure of laser hair removal, they will give you anti-inflammatory lotions, creams or ice packs to bring the area back to ease. The next appointment will be given 4-6 weeks later, and you will have to visit the facility several times until your hair in the area completely stops growing.

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

There are several benefits that you get after getting your unwanted hair removed by laser:

  1. Hair removal methods like waxing, tweezing and shaving are temporary. Once you remove your hair with any of these methods, your hair starts growing within a week or so. But the laser is a permanent method of removing unwanted hair from any part of your body.

  2. The overhead cost of laser treatment may be expensive, but in the long run, it saves the money that you would have spent on removing hair every week or so with other hair removal methods. For instance, if you add up the money that you would have spent on removing hair from your bikini line all through your life, the one-time cost of laser hair removal would be much less than that.

  3. As compared to other methods of hair removal, the laser process is less irritating, less messy, less painful and less time-consuming. For instance, removing hair from your upper lip takes less than one minute, that too without any pain, mess and irritation.

After-Care

Since you would need 3-7 sessions before your hair is completely removed, you should not wax, shave or tweeze them until the completion of the treatment. After each session, avoid exposure to the sun for at least 6 weeks. The skin may feel and look like sunburnt after 1-2 days of each session. You may relieve the area by using moisturizers and cool compresses.

If you are making up your mind for laser hair removal, you must know that the cost you would need to pay depends on the size of the area to be treated, number of sessions required, thickness and colour of the hair to be removed, the skin colour of the area, etc. So, talk with your expert and know your options.
